Side-by-Side Account Comparison
Personal checking is €0 per month, business checking is €8.50, savings earn 1.0%–2.5% AER, and loans start at 3.2% APR — the table below shows each side by side.
Everything below comes from the Accesscu published rate card, updated on the first business day of each month, so the fees and rates you compare here are the ones you'll actually be charged.
Personal checking covers salaries and everyday spending; savings hold surplus cash; business checking exists for companies, sole traders and anyone invoicing for a living; loans are drawn only against assets you need.
| Account | Monthly cost | Minimum to open | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Personal Checking | €0.00 | €10 | Everyday spending, direct debits, contactless |
| Savings | €0.00 | €10 | Idle cash earning 1.0%–2.5% AER |
| Business Checking | €8.50 | €100 | Business income, virtual cards and sweeps |
| Mortgage | No monthly fee | 20% deposit | 20-year fixed home loans from 3.2% APR |
| Auto Loan | No monthly fee | 0% down | New and used cars from 4.9% APR |
When Each Account Fits
Your wages and spending live in personal checking, surplus goes to savings, invoicing needs business checking, and big purchases belong on a loan — not on a card.
A single person needs two: a free checking account for day-to-day money and a savings account for surplus. The moment you invoice clients, pay subcontractors or run staff, you need business checking — that is the point where personal and business money must not mix.
Loans come last, and only when the asset matters: a mortgage for a home you'll keep, an auto loan for a car you need, equipment finance for machines that make money. There is no Accesscu product that lends for spending money, and maxing a personal line for a holiday is the one comparison we'd advise against every time.
- Personal checking — salaries, rent, groceries, direct debits; costs nothing
- Savings — the bucket your surplus sweeps into monthly, 1.0%–2.5% AER
- Business checking — invoicing, staff and card spend; €8.50 all-in
- Loans — only for assets: mortgage, auto or equipment finance
The comparison table did the work in one look: my old bank charged €7.50 a month plus card costs, Accesscu charges €0 checking and 2.5% AER on savings. My monthly banking cost went from €9.80 to nothing.
As a three-person limited company I compared the numbers: €12 a month at a typical bank versus Accesscu's €8.50 with sweeps and virtual cards included. We switched in a week and salary day is finally free.
Monthly Cost vs Typical Banks
Typical retail bank checking runs €6–€12 per month, while Accesscu checking is €0 for personal and €8.50 for business — with no transaction or card fees on top.
The typical €6–€12 monthly cost is the account fee alone. Transaction charges, card replacement and overdraft fees usually sit on top, so the real banking cost for a busy account is higher than the headline.
Accesscu's business checking fee is all-in: no per-transaction charge, no card fees, no statement fee, and cash management, virtual cards and the 3% AER sweep on idle cash are included. Personal checking is simply €0 — a price worth comparing before your next annual review.
| Account | Monthly cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Accesscu personal checking | €0.00 | No balance, card or statement fees |
| Accesscu business checking | €8.50 | Cash management, sweeps and virtual cards included |
| Typical bank personal checking | €6.00 | Base fee before transaction charges |
| Typical bank business checking | €12.00 | Base fee before card and overdraft costs |

Keep the old account open until the final confirmation is issued; most members run both for two to three weeks, then close the old account at no charge.
