The Accesscu Student Account at a Glance
The Accesscu student account is a full personal checking account with €0 monthly fees for members under 26, 1% cashback for the first year and €200 of free international ATM withdrawals per month.
Students get the same account the rest of our 250,000+ members use — no watered-down product — with added perks while you study. You can receive your student grant, pay rent, use contactless and set up budgeting goals exactly as on any Accesscu checking account.
The account is fee-free for the whole period you are 26 or under, and it stays free afterwards because Accesscu charges €0 a month on personal checking for everyone.
| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| Monthly fee | €0 while you are 26 or under |
| Debit card cashback | 1% on all purchases, first 12 months |
| International ATM withdrawals | €0 up to €200 combined per month |
| Included extras | Contactless payments, SEPA transfers, in-app budgeting goals, low-balance alerts |
| Age eligibility | 16 and over (guardian co-signs for 16–17 year olds) |
1% Cashback on Debit Card Spends
Every debit card purchase in the first 12 months earns 1% cashback, credited to your balance each month with no cap on spend.
Cashback applies to all card purchases, in-store and online, including international card payments. ATM withdrawals and account transfers do not qualify — the feature is a reward for spending, not for moving money.
Rebates are credited by the fifth working day of the following month, so a typical year of food shopping, bus tickets and textbooks can return a meaningful amount to a student budget.
- 1% on all card purchases, no spending cap.
- Works in-store and online, at home and abroad.
- Monthly payout lands by the 5th working day.
- ATM withdrawals and transfers do not earn cashback.
I tracked my first-year cashback — €74.10 across the academic year, spent mostly on textbooks and train tickets. Combined with zero monthly fees, it quietly covered most of my stationery and printing budget.
I withdrew €60 in Berlin and €80 in Madrid in the same month and paid nothing on either. The €200 monthly cap is exactly why I still carry a little cash when I travel instead of relying on cards.
Free International ATM Withdrawals
Withdraw cash at ATMs outside Ireland free up to €200 combined per month; beyond the monthly cap standard international withdrawal fees apply.
The €200 monthly cap is cumulative across any number of withdrawals and any currency, so it is designed for genuine travel use — a weekend in Barcelona, a week with family in the UK — rather than year-round holiday habits.
You pay the published card exchange rate with no booking margin added by Accesscu. MoneySafe network ATMs are not required; any ATM that displays your card network logo should accept the card.
The cap resets on the first of each month. If you exceed €200, the extra withdrawals are charged a standard international fee, which is listed on the fees page so you know the cost before you travel.
| Monthly withdrawal total | Fee |
|---|---|
| Up to €200 | €0 |
| Beyond €200 | Standard Accesscu international withdrawal fee per transaction |
How to Open a Student Account
Open the student account in the app in about five minutes using a photo ID, then confirm your enrolment to switch on student perks.
The application is fully digital for anyone with a photo ID: passport, driving licence or national ID card. Once verified, you choose a PIN, set app permissions and order your card.
Students aged 16 and 17 need a parent or guardian to co-sign the account, either in the app or at an Accesscu branch.
- Download the app
The Accesscu app is on the App Store and Google Play; the same app gets you your card, alerts and goals.
- Verify with photo ID
Take a photo of your passport or driving licence and a quick selfie — verification usually takes under ten minutes.
- Confirm enrolment
Upload a current enrolment letter or a photo of your student card to switch on cashback and the international ATM allowance.
- Receive your card
The debit card arrives in 3–5 working days, and you can start paying with contactless via the app the moment it is issued.
Your Account After You Turn 26
When you turn 26 the account simply continues as standard personal checking — still €0 per month, losing only the student-specific perks.
The cashback period is capped at the first 12 months and the €200 international withdrawal allowance applies while you are 26 or under, so both end with your student status.
The account itself costs the same before and after: Accesscu charges €0 per month on personal checking for all members, so graduating costs you nothing. Direct debits, card details and goals stay exactly as they were.
