Accesscu Fraud Protection
Real-time fraud monitoring, instant card freeze, mandatory two-factor and a team that resolves 97% of cases within 48 hours.
The official methodology is detailed in the main overview.
Fraud Protection at a Glance
- Fraud monitoring runs 24/7 across cards, transfers and logins, flagging activity that breaks your normal pattern.
- A card freeze in the app blocks every new transaction within seconds of switching it on.
- All data travels under 256-bit encryption and two-factor authentication is mandatory on every login.
- Report fraud any time on +353 1 555 0123: 97% of reported cases are resolved within 48 hours.
24/7 Fraud Monitoring
Accesscu monitors every account 24/7 with automated risk models that flag unusual card and transfer activity and push an alert the instant something breaks the pattern.
Every transaction is scored in milliseconds against your location, merchant, amount and device history. Genuine spends like repeat payments to the same merchant score low; overnight purchases in a city you have never used score high.
When a risk trigger fires, you get a push alert with a one-tap confirm or reject, so a suspicious charge never clears silently.
Monitoring covers cards, transfers, login attempts and password changes, and the same system powers the alerts you see in the app under Security.
| Layer | What it does | Status |
|---|---|---|
| TLS encryption | Protects data between your device and Accesscu. | 256-bit |
| Encryption at rest | Keeps stored account data encrypted. | 256-bit |
| Two-factor login | Password plus one-time code at every sign-in. | Mandatory |
| Biometric unlock | Quick login from a device you enrolled. | Optional |
| Card freeze | Real-time transaction blocking from the app. | Instant |
- Real-time scoring of every card transaction by location, amount and merchant.
- Instant push alerts for unusual activity, with one-tap confirm or report.
- Monitoring of transfers, logins and password changes as well as cards.
- Rejects arrive as a declined card, a notification, or both within seconds.
Freeze a Card in Two Taps
If your card looks compromised, open the app, tap the card and press Freeze: every new transaction is declined instantly, from contactless to subscriptions.
Freezing is reversible and free. It blocks all new transactions but keeps your balance, history and view of the activity intact so you can inspect it while the card is frozen.
If the charge was a false alarm, unfreeze in the app and the card works again in seconds; if it was fraud, order a replacement card instead and the freeze stays live until it arrives.
- Open the app
Go to Cards and tap the debit card you want to freeze.
- Tap Freeze
The freeze applies within seconds and declines every new purchase — online, in store, contactless, ATM and subscriptions.
- Review the activity
Scroll the recent transactions while frozen and note the amounts, time stamps and merchants you do not recognise.
- Unfreeze or replace
Unfreeze instantly if it was a mistake, or tap Replace to order a free new card — the old number stops working once the replacement ships.
A cloned card was charged at a city bistro at 2 a.m. I froze the card in the app, called the line, and had a reference number in six minutes. The refund landed two days later.
The 2FA prompt stopped a stranger from ever reaching my account: I got the login alert before they could use the code, froze the card instantly, and the fraud team confirmed that nothing moved.
256-Bit Encryption and Mandatory 2FA
Accesscu encrypts data in transit and at rest to 256-bit and forces two-factor authentication on every login, so a stolen password alone cannot open an account.
Two-factor authentication means each login needs your password plus a rotating one-time code generated in the authenticator or sent to a trusted device you have confirmed.
2FA is mandatory for all members — there is no setting that turns it off. Enrolling a new device requires both the password and the code, which is why a single stolen credential is not enough to get in.
| Control | Setting | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Two-factor login | Mandatory | Password plus rotating one-time code |
| 4-digit app PIN | Mandatory | Required before the app unlocks |
| Biometric unlock | Optional | Face or fingerprint on enrolled devices |
| New device enrollment | Verified | Requires existing credentials plus the one-time code |
| Auto sign-out | On | Background inactivity signs you out automatically |
Merchant Site Rules: Your OTP Stays a Secret
Never share the one-time code with anyone: Accesscu staff, merchants or callers never ask for it, and a code shared on the phone hands over access to your account.
Fraudulent calls and merchant chats are not asking for your card number — that already leaked — they want the one-time code that lets them pass their check. The code is the only secret you hold at that moment.
Accesscu will never email, text or call to ask for a one-time code, your full account password or your card PIN, and it is never required on a third-party website.
- Never read out or type a one-time code for anyone — not even someone claiming to be from a bank.
- End any call that asks you to move money 'to a safe account' and call +353 1 555 0123 instead.
- Type the merchant domain into your browser rather than following links inside emails or messages.
- At the till, prefer tokenised wallet payments over typing the card number into a merchant site.
- Check the padlock symbol and verify the domain before entering payment details anywhere.
How to Report Fraud
Freeze the card in the app, then call +353 1 555 0123 — a 24/7 specialist opens a case, and 97% of reported fraud is resolved within 48 hours.
The line is answered around the clock by the fraud team in Dublin, not a menu. Keep the reference number they give you — it tracks the case end to end.
Resolved cases mean the investigation closes with a returned balance, a replaced card and a confirmation letter; the DGS deposit protection of €100,000 never forms part of a fraud case because fraud claims resolve through the investigation instead.
- Freeze the card
Open the app and tap Freeze on the affected card before anything else.
- Call +353 1 555 0123
Any hour, any day. The specialist logs the case and issues a reference number while the card is still frozen.
- Walk the transactions
Tell the specialist which charges you recognise — the monitoring team often sees the same pattern in minutes.
- Get the resolution
97% of reported cases resolve within 48 hours: balance restored, card replaced, confirmation sent.
- What should I do first if I spot a suspicious transaction?
- Freeze the card in the app immediately, then call +353 1 555 0123 with the transaction details — a case is opened while the card stays frozen.
- Am I responsible for unauthorized transactions?
- Verified unauthorized transactions reported promptly are the fraud team's responsibility, and deposits remain protected by the DGS up to €100,000.
- Should I ever share a one-time code?
- Never — Accesscu staff, merchants and callers are never entitled to your code, and no legitimate party will ever ask for one.
- How long does a fraud case take to resolve?
- 97% of reported cases are resolved within 48 hours, with the balance restored, the card replaced and a confirmation letter issued.
- Can I still use a card after freezing it?
- No — a frozen card declines all new transactions, including online, contactless, ATM and subscription charges; unfreeze in the app and it works again in seconds.
This method does NOT apply to members who share their OTP; those transfers fall outside refund policy.
Our 48-hour resolution target excludes cases shared with Europol, which average 11 days.
